How is Convene Communities different from other social media?
The question that I get asked the most is, ‘How is Convene Communities different from other social media?’ The answer is quite simple, but at the same time it must be explained.
In 2001, I lost one of my best friends in a military aviation training accident. A few days after the crash I learned something that crushed my soul. Just two years prior there had been a mishap that had been caused by the same lack of knowledge and experience. However, in this particular mishap there was no loss of life and there were no injuries. It seemed criminal that no one from the original flight had shared their experience. My friends could have had a completely different outcome with a 6¢ fix within the helicopter. In merely 12 seconds of avoidable chaos, my best friend and squadron members lost their life.
So what makes Convene Communities different?
- You are part of a community of Like-Minded individuals. Sure, in other social media you can join a group where you are around people, but Convene offers a platform dedicated to a specific topic. With other platforms you are mixed with every topic in the world.
- Convene is a training platform no matter what your focus. The Scenario Based Training Application allows you or your groups to capture and share your lessons learned. By sharing your experience and knowledge you are able to capture corporate and personal knowledge. This anonymous answering system can be shared in a private group or public format. Each scenario is attached to a discussion board to expand the learning opportunities.
You will share real life experience across the world.
Why should I join a group?
Within the group setting you have your own group social platform. Your group will have its own group calendar, group forum, maybe even subgroups (if you need them), and the option to make your group private or public. Whether you chose to create a group based on geography, skill set or even political leanings; you will have you own scenario based training platform within your group nestled within the larger like minded community.
In life we learn through experience, which gives us many opportunities to make mistakes and learn hard lessons. The goal of Convene Communities is to allow people to share their knowledge and learn from the experience of others.
As humans we strive to gain knowledge.
When I was 24 years old, my wife was about to have our first child. I will never forget how nervous I was about this new baby boy that was on the way. I remember reading book after book and talking to other parents about “What to Expect When You are Expecting.” I had so much knowledge in my head that I felt like I could have delivered my son, but I was still scared. Fast forward six years and we were having are third child. A sweet little baby girl. Now we had the experience and knowledge of six years of parenting under our belt. This parenting thing had gotten much easier. I now have a son in college and two teenage girls. Suddenly this parenting this is NOT so easy again!
